(I won a BLUE RIBBON!! My team, under the leadership of Chef Jason, took first prize at the PA Preferred, Thermador Chef Challenge. Behind the scene photos and more below.)
Let’s take this from the top and keep it simple. In my 2013 post I told you not to miss the maple syrup products and to bring your cowboy hat. In my 2014 post I shared parking, arrival time, busiest time of the day tips. I also shared some must eat goodies. Then there was my interview with Chef Nadia G. of the Cooking Channel’s, Bitchin’ Kitchen.
2015 and bam! It’s only Monday, you have a week to get on over the to Farm Show. In all my Farm Show round-ups, the donuts seem to have made it into my photos. There are the cute animals and beautiful birds. That should be plenty to get you started. Print the map and check out events before you even leave home.
The animals! There were napping animals and preening birds. There are lots of people animals. Little ones and big ones all crowded in the aisles or in line for shakes. (That’s why you go during the week!)
This is was an especially fun show for me this year. Back in October I was asked to be a Sous Chef to a local Chef for the Thermador Chef Challenge. I wanted to say, no. Fear of people and a stage, you get it don’t you? I was a bit nervous but it was so much fun once we got started. We just followed the lead of our Chef.
Here are some behind the scenes and in-front-of-the-crowd pics! I made a short video to show you what was inside the winning prize bag too! We don’t have to talk about the middle finger do we? What do you think happens when you chop garlic with a 10″ chef knife? I took my finger tip off (5 stitches to put it back on) while watching Jimmy Fallon on a beautifully snowy day as I was prepping meals for beauty pageant judges. This is par for the course with me.
Curious to know what’s in the bag of a Blue Ribbon prize winner for a food competition?
The cream on the cake at this year’s Farm Show was meeting and interviewing Chef Aaron McCargo of Big Daddy’s Kitchen and The Next Food Network Star. You can look for his interview over the next day or two. You will not be disappointed! What a good guy with some solid recipe and kitchen tips. If you are immune to his laugh you must have a heart of rocks.
