I had never been to the PA Farm Show, let alone heard of it, before Dan. If someone else had mentioned it, pre-Dan, I was not paying attention. Dan is too handsome & intelligent to ignore.
This was our 3rd visit, as a happy and hungry couple. The first year I tried the fried cheese curds. The second year I stuck with the fresh veggies and this year solicited advice from my Facebook peeps. They said the milkshake was a must have.
We enter the building through the food court area. We just had to try the fries as we headed into the show. Sharing saved some calories and kept us full enough to walk the show and came back for dinner.
I am not so sure who these gals are but do they ever rock the cowboy hats! I suppose their sashes read, Miss Teen Rodeo New York and that’s probably who they are.
What farm animals do you visit at the farm show? I love the sheep, chickens, goats, and bunnies. I do NOT walk down the cow aisles. First, the cows are so beautiful and have the deepest, dark eyes. I think they are saying, “why must you eat me” OR “can’t you make your own milk to drink you selfish humans?” Second, cow pies. Yes, I’m strange but I like to keep my clothes clean and the cows are always facing in with their bottoms facing into the narrow the aisles. I don’t like surprises in tight spaces.
I frequently proclaim, to anyone who will listen, Dan and I must get goats and chickens. I am not sure I really mean it. It would be loads of work and my garden keeps my hands full. I don’t even eat eggs so what would we do with all those eggs? That’s why visiting the farm show is so much fun. I get my creature fix.
The other fun of the farm show is in meeting local growers or food producers. Maple syrup who would have guessed you could be whipped into cream or fluffed into cotton candy?
Between all the food booths, wine tasting, butter sculpture, textile & food competition, agriculture education booths, and other dizzying displays there was …. insert background music for the hallelujah chorus…. the farm show milkshake. It was the first time I tried it and the first milkshake I’ve had in years. It had sugar. I’m not sure there was any milk. It was good. This shake did not last long and neither will this blathering blog.

Nadia, you must make the trip! I am not sure how long the drive is but if you make they also have an arena where there is rodeo events, horse pulling and other “farm” stuff (can’t find the words). I have too many pictures. Fun day trip! eat your way through the day…
