Don’t pass on the opportunity to speak with strangers. That’s what Splendora’s Italian father taught her.
Do you know where dimples come from? I have dimples. Splendora told me they appeared as a child when an angel sat on the each corner of my smile. Is that the sweetest story? I think so and it’s something a stranger told me.
We met on my recent 2’s day visit to Lancaster Central Market. I was gathering stories and dinner for my Fig Lancaster blog.
I talk to strangers, especially at market, it’s interesting to hear how folks will prepare their purchase and if they are new to the vendor. Generally I’m not too shy. Some folks don’t mind chatting but others do. To each his own.
In my conversation with Splendora, this Philadelphia native shared when she first moved to Lancaster she thought, “What’s wrong with everyone! Everyone is so stuffy and people don’t speak to one another.” Her Italian father taught her to engage with others and so she does and it doesn’t matter if her hair is coifed or her clothes are perfect. She just rolls with it. Love it. Feel fueled up by connecting with her and the others who shared time with me on that market visit.
That’s where inspiration is born…connecting and sharing.
