We are on the road again! My husband, who works full-time, has a part-time woodworking hobby and we spend many of the fall and winter weekends at regional art & gift shows. We are often out of state, which for all the work involved, is quite fun. Love the local and ethnic foods, connecting with old vendors and making new connections, buying handmade gifts and the real perk… date time with Dan! After a day of working a show we have nothing to do but wait for the show to re-open.
The art & craft shows Dan participates in are all handmade events. They are rich in creativity and the spirit of artisans who still offer handmade gifts. It’s kinda what the Lancaster Central Market is to me with food…. you can buy from and shake the hand of the creator of the goods you purchase. We all have a story to tell and it’s fun, for me anyway, to make that personal connection.
I am posting pics of what I find for the purpose of facilitating a connecting with you and the artist. Here are some fun finds from recent road trips and the artist’s website.
If Dan had not pointed me to this vendor I may have totally missed them… there are hundred of vendors at this show. The upcycle boots to make purses and wine bottle holders. This was my favorite purse, love the aqua. Bags ranged from $69 to $450 for the Italian designer boots purse (Lucchese). Beautiful. My style is more eclectic than trend savvy and I like something I won’t find others carrying, this is it! Check out the RootinTootinBoutique.com
Gotta love this very clever jewelry. There are pieces for men and women in all price ranges from $5 each to $150. There is something for the mac or pc in us! My favorite was their line of geektorian pieces. I did not take pictures of that line, you will need to check out their sites to find it via motherboredjewelry.com

I like the way you compare food and crafts, what you call making the direct connection of the creator of the goods you purchase. And yes, unfortunately there are copycats everywhere, only in food, it does not have a lasting impact because once it is eaten it’s gone but a handcrafted piece stays, so it is more upsetting.

Hi!! I purchased some of your husband’s wooden icicle name ornaments in 2010 for my family. I recently had another baby and am interested in getting one with his name’s as well. Is there a way for me to place an order online? Thanks!!
phoebe says
Hello Ro, Congrats for the new addition to your family! Dan does not have a website nor does he take orders on line. If you send me your email address I can pass it along to Dan. thank you, phoebe

Great! You should be able to use this one: ro.mac.54@facebook.com
If not let me know, and I can send you my direct one. I appreciate your help! I also sent an email to the one he had in his brochure back in 2010, but not sure he’s still checking that one.
thanks!
