Once a month I have the opportunity to connect with and share the story of local food producers. I host a show for The People Chronicles, called Pure Food for Thought. Listen in iTunes or on YouTube. It is just too much fun. Always. This month there is a particularly sweet story I’d like to share.
I tasted David’s ice cream before meeting the man behind the sundae. Dan and I met David and Carmen, his wife, at Susquehanna Style’s Best of Party, where they received the Best Susquehanna Ice Cream Shop award. As it turns out, Dan and David had something in common, woodworking. You see, David was not always in the business of making mouths happy one scoop at a time. His current career was part of the transformation from a corporate environment to developing his cooking passion.
I was very surprised by some of the answers David had for me. His perspective is refreshing. I think we all wish we had a boss like David.
Since recording this chit chat Carmen and David’s announced they will not be re-opening. They will be focusing on family wellness issues. Their ice cream will still be available at local restaurants. The ice cream shop was a bright place on the busy corner in the heart of Lancaster. Carmen and David’s not only served tantalizing treats but their community needs as well.
