It’s been work and sickness stuff so an early morning breakfast celebrating a rather fine week was in order. In a big way. I rustled up 3 other chicks for breakfast at Aussie and the Fox Restaurant, with a quick stop at Lancaster Central Market. I’d say it was the perfect way to welcome the weekend.
One of Downtowns newer additions this eatery is easily accessible with on street or lot parking. Find them on 38 West King Street but make sure to spend some time to visit Lancaster Central Market and the surrounding shops.
Breakfast: Friday -Saturday 7 am – 11 am
Brunch: Sunday 10 am -2 pm
I haven’t been for dinner and since breakfast and brunch are a real treat let’s just keep some focus…on biscuits, chicken and waffles, orange and fennel cured lox or good old fashioned creamed chipped beef.
I wanted to share pics from inside the Aussie and the Fox and I lost them. You’ll need to check out their website. I love the charm. If I say Alice in Wonderland you may (and they may) take it the wrong way. I find it a but whimsical and sassy in an sazerac before 5 kind of way.(pssst… just noticed they serve Bluecoat Gin cocktail which is now on my to-do list)
What it is
“A family dreamed and family owned” restaurant serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks. There is also the Tucker Box. Grab a hot or iced drink and nibble to go, curbside.
Why I like it
I love the decor. Not gonna lie. I can be superficial like that if I want to. I love the story of the 2 young general managers… the Aussie and The Fox.
I love that the chef’s get creative but have not created a pretentious menu.
I love how my food is presented.
That it is fresh.
I love the prices for breakfast and brunch. Leaves room for dinner daydreaming.
Why you want it
For starter you don’t want to start your weekend washing your own dishes. Mostly, you’ll want to grab great grub that is well priced, a varied menu (but not so varied you wonder how they can keep so many menu selections on the menu fresh), with a fresh, creative twist.
You will want a creamy, perfectly frothed latte, or the cozy chairs hugging you while you savor each bite. You’ll want to enjoy the company of your dining partners because you can hear them and aren’t drowned out by the excessively loud acoustics.
You’ll want to know that your server won’t forget you but is attentive and can answer questions about the dishes you will be considering.
Where to get it
Well, you just need to get your fancy pants on and get on over there. That’s how you get it. Causal dress will work but so will your fancy pants. 38 West King Street, Lancaster. Facebook and Website. Parking situation.
