It’s that time of year. Some folks are dreaming of sparkly rings and things but I prefer to think edible gifts. I made a short and sweet list of Lancaster Central Market Holiday Must Haves for this holiday season. Some items are seasonal so grab them while you can! Each item is perfect for the host or thoughtful gift giver in you.
Before we get into the list I’d like to introduce you to Jessica Malhot. Jessica is the Lancaster Central Market manager. She visited my 2 Weird Hungry Girls podcast. You can listen in here. We talk about great sandwiches and holiday market events. Listen in to the podcast as you get some holiday baking or cleaning done. Now, on to the list!
1. Tea gift basket from Pureblend Tea
Tea is for more than sipping when it’s you against the flu. Kari Dandrea, owner of Purblind Tea, can walk you through flavors beyond mint and black tea, creating a thoughtful gift basket for a loved one or just for you. My favorite tea is the Alice in Wonderland but the mulling spice is nice. Pureblend Tea also offers a Raw Cocoa Mix. I have not tried this treat but it might just go on my stocking stuffer wish list.
2. A sweet and simple topiary or succulent from Spring Knoll Farm
Who doesn’t need a bit of green when everything is frozen over? I love gifting something green. Spring Knoll Farms has a selection of sweet little growing gifts. Do you have a favorite local potter? Pair a mug or serving bowl with one of these topiaries.
3. Spices from Herb Shop for my Vanilla Citrus Spice Blend
Not only will you need to restock on the best quality vanilla extract after you get through your holiday baking but you must pick up some spices for my Vanilla Citrus Spice Blend recipe. From cinnamon sticks, allspice, vanilla beans, cloves and anise the Herb Shop has you covered! A handmade gift is most thoughtful and I hope you give my easy mulling spice blend a whirl.
4. A Lancaster Central Market cutting board or cookbook
Be sure to add a Lancaster Central Market bumper sticker to that list too! Have you been to the new information booth at market? Grab a bite from the German Deli on your way to shop the market’s new information booth.
5. Fresly prepared pasta from Buona Tavola.
Don’t be a kitchen hero. It’s okay to cheat a bit. Why not keep a few packs of freshly prepared Buona Tavola pasta in the freezer? Perfect for surprise guests or as a quick dinner after a day of hardcore shipping. I have some in my freezer.
Don’t stop at just 5 items! Here are my market must haves from previous years.
