Through the summer a favorite local band, Get Real, is performing at the Peanut Bar every other Thursday night. Dan likes the Peanut Bar. We use to make infrequent stops before the Reading Royals, local ECHL, games. I love that you can eat peanuts and make mad, crazy mess of the peanut shells. Dan likes the chill environment…very man cave-ish.
The Peanut Bar is located on 322 Penn Street in the Downtown Reading with off-street parking, just off of Cherry St.

The menu is rather lengthy with options from fried appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. Sometimes with a varied menu it is hard to figure out what might be a house specialty. Luckily, a few folks had ordered just before we arrived so I wasn’t in the dark with options.
Dan ordered the portabella sandwich which was okay (I snuck a bite). I’m finicky about my grilled portabella. I think they can really be kicked up in flavor and rubbed down in fresh herbs and garlic to create a mouthful of flavor instead of mushroom between a bun.
I had a turkey reuben sandwich because the suggestions that came my way, via Facebook, were received after we left. So here is what I heard is tasty…
- hummus platter
- fried cheese curds
- the crab salad
- tuna steak
- skip all of it and head right to the chocolate covered pretzel ice cream pie
