It’s not often that I make the time to spend with my family. I’m usually giving my time away to people … frankly who wouldn’t miss me if I was gone tomorrow. It’s true. Are you the master of work life and family life? If so, then that’s wonderful. I’m still a work in progress.
Ya know…I just did a podcast interview and the interviewer asked me what I want to be when I grow up or where I want to be in 5 years. There was no real answer….never saw the writing on the wall at a young age. Growing up was rigid with many guidelines and rules, not at all regrettable, and not sure there was space to explore what I wanted vs making sure everyone else got what they wanted. It was on the drive home from the interview it came to me… what I want… it would be just to be happy in my own skin doing what makes me happy. A legacy is not important it requires getting someone’s attention to say, either passively or upfront, “hmmm… hey there, this is what i did and this is why it is important or relevant and this is why you should care.”
Visiting my parents makes me happy. So, that’s what fueled a road trip to Delaware.
My mom pulled me out of the house on Saturday morning to visit the Historic Lewes Farmers Market. This is a thriving farm market that began in 2006. They are bursting at the seams with vendors from fresh produce, mushrooms, cheese, milk and jam to apple cider donuts and lavender infused products. It felt nice to be at a market where the locals were there shopping and connecting. Most vendors were selling out. I think the people count was over 1,000 before 10am
There was also a food demo going on. It was nice that they offer that for shoppers. I’ve very sad that the gal doing the demo suggested Goya Brand Olive oil as the best on the shelves. Yikes. She did direct shoppers to read labels and make sure the olives are from one region. I’d like to suggest you buy domestic, California Olive Ranch sells an amazing variety of olive oils and locally we have Seasons Olive Oil and Vinegar Taproom that sells domestic and imported oils. Listen to this short podcast about olive oil.
The farmer selling these gorgeous bouquets of flowers (and peached not in the photo) said she is living the dream!
If there is a buffet in heaven tonight it would look like this… peaches… in-season fresh peaches.
