It was a girls night out but 3 men snuck in…We were there for a closed-door, special event and lecture by Janet Oberholtzer.
I had never been to Cafe 110 but have always heard lovely things said about it, that the menu was limited and so were their open days. In my mind, that meant kinda exclusive…like a local secret… and fresh food, which I dig.
We have passed Cafe 110 so many times on trips into Morgantown because it is so conveniently located on Rt 23 and the intersection of Rt 10. You will know it when you see the, what I interpret as, a wave made of driftwood. It is about 6-8 feet high and projects from the front of the building.
When we made it in I was so surprised at how quaint the interior is with warm colors, low ceilings and a clean, fresh, cafe style. ps…the bathroom is super clean (pet peeve of mine).
After helping ourselves to the bruschetta & pita with hummus appetizers, the girls grabbed a table to chat with friends and make new pals as we waited for food and the night’s speaker, Janet Oberholtzer, author of Because I Can. On a regular night at Cafe 110, which I am told is Friday night dinners, the menu is sweet and simple.
Here is what we were served. Bean and roasted veggie salad, apple and field greens salad, chicken and wild rice salad, and a fill pocket of chicken and wild rice. Everything was fresh and light.
Dessert was lovely. It was a small sampling of sweets. Yes, it was sugar…probably white sugar but you know it was sweet, small portions of funnel cake straws, brownie, and a little muffin.
Cafe 110 will be a place I must travel back to but the company we shared in the cozy space was just as enjoyable. If you are ever interesting in having a guest speaker at your gather or event connect with Janet Oberholtzer, she is amazing and I like to think emotionally evolved as she pushes forward on her journey.
CHEERS… to great company, a fab small food business like Cafe 110 and taking the time to enjoy it all!
